Be sure to drink plenty of water. Avoid drinking your calories. Remember that soda pop contains a huge amount of calories. You can add a little lemon to your water if that helps. You should undress your food. This means that you will have to uncover those food items that are calorie and fat-packed like salad dressings, spreads, sour cream, cheese, etc... The best way to avoid fat-packed fast food is to order for such items that don't contain mayonnaise or dressing.
Luckily there are healthy fast food options for eating on the go. For instance, Taco Bell has the Fresco items on their "Drive-Thru Diet Menu" Whatever you do, DON'T get any of their Taco Salads thinking that they are a healthy choice! They are loaded with fat and calories. Burger King has the "Tendergrill" Chicken sandwich which is a good choice as long as you get it WITHOUT the mayo (you must order it that way because if you don't they will automatically put the mayo on it... and they do it generously which is BAD for your waistline) Also Burger Kings "Tendergrill" garden salad using fat free ranch dressing is a healthy choice. McDonald's salads are a healthy fast food option for eating on the go also. If you get one with chicken make sure you opt for grilled instead of crispy and use a limited amount of low fat dressing. The Fruit n Yogurt Parfait (7oz) can be had as a breakfast option from McDonalds also. That's about the only thing I would recommend as far as breakfast goes. I don't recommend anything from their breakfast menu.
Sit down type restaurants have many healthy food options as well. Be careful when ordering because many times fat is added to items that you wouldn't suspect. You can go to just about any fast food restaurants website and see the nutrition information for all their food items and drinks. You don't need to carry around a cooler to eat healthier, you just need to be armed with the knowledge of what healthy fast food options are available.
