To cut back on the calories associated with a fast food hamburger, you can eliminate some of the extras that increase the overall fat content of the meal. For example, forgo the slice of cheese on a Wendy's Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe and save 40 calories. Take off the mayonnaise to reduce your burger by 25 calories. Want to save carbs and calories regarding your healthy fast food selections? Eat your burger on half-a-bun and save 60 calories. All together, the 125-calorie cut still allows you to savor the taste of bacon and juicy hamburger accompanied by nutritious tomatoes and lettuce. Additionally, you can also select smaller burger choices, as a Whopper Jr. without mayo (290 calories) tastes just as good as its 510-calorie cousin.
Luckily there are healthy fast food options for eating on the go. For instance, Taco Bell has the Fresco items on their "Drive-Thru Diet Menu" Whatever you do, DON'T get any of their Taco Salads thinking that they are a healthy choice! They are loaded with fat and calories. Burger King has the "Tendergrill" Chicken sandwich which is a good choice as long as you get it WITHOUT the mayo (you must order it that way because if you don't they will automatically put the mayo on it... and they do it generously which is BAD for your waistline) Also Burger Kings "Tendergrill" garden salad using fat free ranch dressing is a healthy choice. McDonald's salads are a healthy fast food option for eating on the go also. If you get one with chicken make sure you opt for grilled instead of crispy and use a limited amount of low fat dressing. The Fruit n Yogurt Parfait (7oz) can be had as a breakfast option from McDonalds also. That's about the only thing I would recommend as far as breakfast goes. I don't recommend anything from their breakfast menu.
A healthy fast food chain would also be a great alternative for the business professional who often doesn't have time to pack a lunch for work. You could drive-through and order a fresh salad with light dressing without worrying about whether you have been deceived. For example, many traditional fast food chains will advertise something as healthy, but when you see the actual nutrition information, it is far from it. In fact, eating the so-called healthy items at a traditional fast food place may be worse than eating those greasy fries. It is sad that our world has come to this.
