In general, Asians eat very healthy, focusing rather on vegetables than meat, but fast food restaurants often serve high calorie versions of these healthy meals. Prefer stir-fried, steamed, broiled, baked or roasted foods to fried and battered ones. When it comes to sauces, wasabi, ginger and low-sodium soy sauce are much healthier options than regular soy sauce, sweet & sour sauce or coconut milk.
Special ordering your food is okay - and a lot of times, it can really help save you a lot of calories. Get your chicken soft taco without the sauce and cheese, get that burrito without sour cream and guacamole, etc. If you stick with the regular hamburger and the small fries, the quality of food you're consuming still isn't great, but at least you're minimizing the calorie damage.
Preparation of healthy fast food items is not painstaking or as elaborate as conventional food. While the basic raw materials are the same as those for the traditional fare, condiments, ingredients, one can vary spices in their relative proportions to suit the person's taste and comfort. Spicy food may not be suitable for children thus healthy fast foods can be mild in taste as well. On the other hand, a person who relishes only spicy food can have the healthy food items altered suitably to make it free from being bland. Healthy fast foods also improve the primary cooking skills and one can easily let the imagination loose while choosing the condiments and accompaniments.
