The fact that people want healthy fast food chains is obvious when you consider the new, healthy alternative foods finally being offered by chains like McDonalds. Especially for the kid's meals, this is such a welcome change! And about time! In America, and following suit all over the world, people are gaining weight in record numbers. With the excess poundage comes an increase in weight related diseases like diabetes, heart disease and joint problems.
Eating out, and particularly eating fast food, is never going to be the ideal situation. There are, however, some things you can do to make somewhat healthy fast food choices - here four easy ones you can start on today. No additional salt; one of the biggest problems with fast food is that the sodium content in most of it is so darned high. So whatever you do, don't make things worse by adding additional salt.
Recommendations from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) state that there are several methods in which food establishments can participate in the rally toward healthier Americans. First, marketing and advertising should be geared more toward the lower calorie, healthier versions of food. Promotional materials should include education that stresses the necessity of eating a variety of healthy foods from the major food groups. Also, healthier foods should be readily available along with easily understandable data highlighting the nutritional values provided by each of the foods.
